Gary Sinise is an acclaimed actor, director, producer, humanitarian, and longtime advocate for America’s service members, veterans, and their families. Widely recognized for his portrayal of Lieutenant Dan Taylor in the Academy Award–winning film Forrest Gump (1994), Sinise brought depth and humanity to a character whose journey powerfully illustrated the cost of war and the resilience of the human spirit. The role became a defining moment in his career and helped spark his lifelong commitment to supporting veterans and wounded service members.

Beyond his work in film and television, Gary Sinise is the founder of the Gary Sinise Foundation, which honors and supports active-duty military, veterans, first responders, and their loved ones through programs focused on housing, mental wellness, education, and gratitude initiatives.
